What is GPRA?

GPRA or General Pool Residential Accommodation is a Central Government scheme which provides residential accommodation to eligible Central Government employees. These properties are under the administration of the directorate of estates in Delhi. These properties are allotted according to the provisions mentioned in the allotment of the government's residence rule since 1963 in Delhi and 31 stations outside the national capital of a country in cities like Mumbai, Chandigarh and Kolkata and many others.

Who is Eligible for General Pool Residential Accommodation?

  1. It is available for applicants who live within the boundaries of the NCT. It is important to note that their locations or residences need to be approved by the cabinet committee on the accommodation or the CCA.
  2. It is also available for other applicants working in government offices that are not situated in Delhi. The proposal of these applications needs to be approved by the CCA and forwarded to the directorate with the approval of the joint secretary. They also need to provide information such as the status of the office and if the officer or the department staff is eligible for residential accommodation from any other pool.
  3. This is also available for all Government employees having a departmental residential accommodation pool.
  4. Important to note the applicant has to submit a certificate from the department stating that no junior to the applicant has been given an allotment from the department.
  5. Any certificates that do not specifically mention any of the above criteria, will be denied.

Allotment Procedure of GPRA

  1. To apply for GPRA, you need to be on a unified waiting list for a particular type of accommodation.
  2. The unified waiting list includes everyone that is applying for the GPRA which includes people who are waiting for the initial allotment as well as those who want to change their accommodation.
  3. Allotments are made based on the date, priority and seniority of each application. On the unified list each applicant is allowed to allotment slip is initial and the change of accommodation.
